Time to Start Thinking of those Business Holiday Cards!

A sampling of business holiday cards designed by BigBunny Marketing

Are you going to choose one of the big holidays — Thanksgiving, Christmas (BEWARE*) or the New Year — to send your business holiday cards? What all these holidays have in common is that they come at the end of the calendar year and many companies choose these to send annual messages. So, how can you stand out? Do you add a promotional item? Or just a standard greeting?

If you are opting for one of these holidays NOW is the time to start thinking about what and how you are sending your message.

*Unless you know everyone at a certain company celebrate Christmas, it’s better these days to avoid denominational holidays. Accidental slights are difficult to recover from, even with the best intentions.

QUICK STORY: In the 90’s (I know, so long ago) when I entered my client’s office, we passed the conference room and the table was filled, and I mean FILLED — with holiday baskets, cheese boards, cookies. I turned and asked “Oh, did you get my basket?” “Yes, thanks!” I hadn’t sent anything. They didn’t know who sent greetings and who didn’t.

Why not turn the idea of an annual message on its head and change things up? IF you are going to the expense of sending out a card are you going to include a promo and if so what?

CLUE: NOT A MUG!

The best promo and the MOST response I ever had was a holiday card sent on Ground Hog’s Day that included a web-cam cover. Clients found this item SO useful and this one gift brought me a TON of repeat business AND new referrals.
